Welcome to Upstate South Carolina

Head down into Upstate South Carolina for a day trip to the great little city of Greenville. You'll definitely want to visit Falls Park, right in the heart of downtown. A series of trails and riverbanks along the Reedy River, it features walking trails, public art, wildlife, and the Liberty Bridge, a beautiful walking bridge that allows visitors to get the best view of the reclaimed waterfall that gave the park its name. You'll be awed by what Greenville has done to turn what was once a muddy river hidden under a highway into the crown jewel of the city and a must-see for nature lovers.

Will you be visiting Greenville with little ones in tow? Take them to the Greenville Zoo, located at the back of Cleveland Park, which also has a great playground for them to run and stretch their legs before heading inside. The zoo houses Greenville's pride and joy - Autumn and Walter the Giraffes and their son Kiko, born in the zoo itself to great fanfare and excitement. The Children's Museum, just on the other side of downtown, is also an exciting choice and a place the kids will beg to come back to visit again and again. With hands-on exhibits like the Toddler Lily Pond to the Construction Zone and Grandma Betty's farm, there's something for even the littlest visitors all the way up to those who are "kids at heart". You could spend the whole day exploring! (Good thing there's a cafe - it's sure to come in handy when the kids work up an appetite!)

Wondering what a day trip to Greenville might look like? Well, we think it could start with a stop at Coffee Underground, a Greenville mainstay and one of the best places downtown to get a cup of joe. Take a walk down Main Street, strolling past shops showcasing artwork, jewelry, and designs by local artists and artisans, boutique clothing shops - there's even The Petite Parade, outfitting Greenville's youngest fashion plates. Feeling hungry? Blue Ridge Brewery, a brewpub right on Main Street, is a popular lunchtime destination for those looking for a great burger. Make sure to grab one of their brewed-in-house beer selections! There's also Smoke on the Water, for true Southern food that sticks to your ribs. Really, grab lunch anywhere downtown - it's a food lover's paradise, with a restaurant selection that can't be beat! On your way back home, you might stop in the friendly little town of Travelers Rest, SC, to grab yourself some dinner or stop by the local craft brewery! Travelers Rest is rapidly becoming a destination all its own!

Greenville has gained recognition in various national publications like CNN Money, listing Greenville as one of the "Top 10 Fastest Growing Cities in the U.S." Bloomberg named Greenville the 3rd Strongest Job Market, 2010; and Forbes named Greenville the 13th Best City for Young Professionals. Additionally, the state of South Carolina has been ranked within the top 10 fastest growing states and economies by the U.S. Commerce Department.
